June 23 – 27: SUMMER DANCE EDUCATION & TECHNOLOGY: DANCING INTO NEW MEDIA, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Department of Dance at The University of North Carolina, Greensboro, NC. Come explore cutting edge dance technology pedagogy and best practices in the ever-evolving laboratory of dance at UNCG. You will leave renewed and ready to incorporate technology into your classes and into the lives of your students. This five-day intensive hands-on course provides skills and strategies for bridging new media technology and dance education. No previous experience with technology is necessary. July 6-11: OBERLIN DANCE INTENSIVE, OH. Features classes in ballet with Bobby Wesner and Contemporary with Holly Handman-Lopez; hiphop with members of And What!? as well as workshops in contact improvisation; West African dance; wellness for dancers and more. July 6 – 12: DANCING OUR WAY HOME Workshop at Still Meadow Retreat Center, Oregon. An innovative, movement centered model for personal transformation & community development. This year Boulder’s Alana Shaw will be joined by renowned sound healer Vickie Dodd, as well as the wonderful Jesse Manno. The combined wonder of Alana’s years of experience, Vickie’s sound healing, and Jesse Manno’s live improvisational music will create a week long workshop not to be missed. July 7 – 12: INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL, Leitring bei Leibnitz, Austria. For experienced dancers, choreographers, physical theatre performers, actors, contemporary circus performers and directors – performing arts practitioners from different genres and techniques. The Lab language is English. Intensive practical sessions, lectures and discussions take place at the “Green Heart” of Austria, a beautiful fifteen century refurbished castle. July 7 – 19: THE ROYAL ACADEMY OF DANCE (USA) accepting applications for their 2014 Summer Programs, campus of California State University Long Beach. With a focus on choreography and performance, students, for students age 12 – 22 regardless of training method, will participate in ballet technique and repertoire, as well as modern and musical theatre dance classes. The program concludes with a public performance.
July 21 – 26: THE ROYAL ACADEMY OF DANCE (USA), 6-Day Vocational Graded Examination Intensive will be held on the campus of California State University Long Beach. Open to students ages 11 – 22 who are preparing to take RAD Vocational Graded examinations. The Intensive follows the Performance Course. July 12 – 14: WILD MEADOWS IMPROVISATION INTENSIVE, Schellsburg, PA. Join members of SPAN: Spontaneous Performing Artists Network, a national group of improvising artists, for an intensive exploration of improvisation through somatic modalities, Contact Improvisation, site-specific exploration and performance.
