Some of these workshops are for young dancers, but most are geared to mid-teen, college, and professional dancers.  So much going on and this does not include on-going classes.

Aug. 6 – 9 and 11 – 15: MASTER CLASSES with Guests ALICE & LUCIAN NECSEA, sponsored by Boulder Ballet, BB Studios, Dairy Center for the Arts, 2590 Walnut St., Boulder 80302.Former principal dancers with the National Ballet Theater Sarajevo, Bucharest State Opera, and Vienna Opera Ballet Companies. Currently on faculty at Vienna Opera Ballet School, Vienna, Austria. Intermediate Teens, 11:30 a.m. – 3 p.m., Studio Three $400; Advanced Teens & Adults, 2 – 5:30 p.m. Studio One $400. New series: SCHOOL OF DISAPPEARANCE: SOMATIC EXPERIMENTS & TRAININGS, 1800 30th St., (Crossroads Gardens), Suite 218A, Boulder. Dynamics, States, Fields And Worlds, Mondays 9-11am, Wednesdays 7-9pm. Thru Aug. 9: VAIL INTERNATIONAL DANCE FESTIVAL, Vail, CO.  26th annual festival will host 9 performances at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater, 2 performances at the Vilar Performing Arts Center, a series of master classes and free interactive events in the streets of Vail at Solaris Plaza and Arrabelle Square. Thru Aug. 10: VAIL CONTEMPORARY DANCE INTENSIVE, Monday – Saturday, with a student performance on Sunday morning, STUDIO 8100, Traer Creek Plaza, 101 Fawcett Rd.#185, Avon, CO 81620. Geared towards the all around Inter/Adv dancer, ages 12 -25.  First come, first served.  Ballet, Modern Ballet, Traditional & Commercial style Jazz, Contemporary dance, Improvisation, Composition, & Hip Hop.  Intro to elements of Yoga, Pilates & Gyrokinesis also.  Housing with a certified camp counselor on site supervising students under the age of 18yrs.  Runs at the same time as the Vail International Dance Festival.  More info: Hilde Falk,, 970-306-3395.

Aug, 12, 19, 26, Sept. 2 & 9: FOLK DANCING for EVERYONE! Tuesday throughout the summer, Boulder Municipal Plaza (Farmers’ Market area) beside the Dushanbe Teahouse, 1770 13th St., Boulder, CO. FREE! Folk dances are taught and danced each Tuesday evening outside under the stars. Teaching by Martin Acres’ own Tom Masterson and other teachers – Beginning level teaching 7-8; no partner or experience needed. Dancing continues till 10 p.m. A wonderful way to learn great dances, experience our ethnic and cultural roots, meet new friends and get into shape, all at the same time! Thru 16: 16th Annual INTERNATIONAL AERIAL DANCE FESTIVAL, Boulder, CO.  This 2-week immersion provides classes, lectures/demonstrations, informal discussions, networking, and performances. Classes in Skinner Releasing Technique / Aerial / Duets on the Trapeze Repertory, Low-Flying Trapeze,  Bungie / Rope & Harness, Sling, Beg – Adv Fabric, Fabric Repertory, Lyra,  Rigging, Mixology: Invented Apparatus Repertory,  Pole & Contortion, Cyr Wheel / Traveling Rings, Acrobalance / Handstands and Aerial Burlesque. Dance Vacations will be a place for you to revel in and celebrate your inherent creative moxie, stamina, and spunk as a quiet magic unfolds in unexpected and astonishing ways. We will bewitch one another, and ourselves, by diving into the exquisite nature of imagination through dancing, writing, conversing, and food (includes lunch).
